I'm not sure what forums this topic fits into but I guess this is the closest. Anyways, do you guys/girls have any tips or guidelines for writing a TOS, Privacy Policy, or Legal Notice pages for your websites that are based off of copyrighted trademarks, etc..? (such as a myspace resource site, a gaming review site, etc..)
Feel free to take a look at what I have up at my site. I can help you here if you want regarding some ways to customize your policy to suit your site. Since it seems that you have a site that seems to cater to teens and I'm guessing relationships, etc., you want to make sure that you have protections against: (1) piracy - it's simply not allowed (2) disclaimer against being responsible for acts of members (3) user agrees and understands the risks of participating in such a site and now that I think about it, there are many more which you can just find on myspace's web site. They are now owned by Fox which means that their expensive lawyers drew one up for them. They have been sued several times now so you can be sure that theirs will be as airtight in your industry as it gets. As I said, glad to give you tips here if you want to discuss what some of the legalese means.
I think it is allways best to get a pro to write them up for you, so you know that everything is convered. But if it's just a small project, then obviously not.
Absolutely. If your site is getting larger quickly, consider this a GREAT investment even if it costs you a little, and it should not be more than a few hundred dollars at most.
