Making a Quotation site

I guess this is kind of a little late to be asking, seeing as how I've had the site up and running for a few months now. I just want to make sure its ok, if not, I'll be pretty upset lol.

Anyways, is it ok to take quotations from authors/tv shows/movies/etc from other websites? Quotations from people can't be owned right? I always check to see if the website has some kind of privacy policy first, and if they do then I just move along. Even then, I still don't see how you can have a privacy policy on something you don't own? But I didn't want to take any chances I guess.

    Any info on this? Thanks!

as long as you give credit to the show, I dont think there are any problems. And of course you want to do that, cuz its your primary way of getting traffic.

Wow, thanks for the quick response lol.

See, when I first made the site I didn't do that, I asked somewhere else, somewhere with no real knowledge on the subject really, more of just opinions from other people, and they said it would be fair to just take them and it would be pointless to link back to them. But I can definitley link back to them, I have no problem in doing that.

So its not an issue as long as I give credit?

As a writer, I have two huge quotation books in my library. Between the two books are about 50,000 quotes.

You can use quotes provided you properly cite the source. It would be kind of hard to link back to MLK, JFK and so forth. :D

Here's an example of quote and source:

"All of us do not have equal talent, but all of us should have an equal opportunity to develop our talents."

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963). Address, San Diego State College, 6 June 1963.
