It sounds like everyones website is progressing. What kind of sites are you pushing? Lead generation? Retail? Ebay?

I think your goals are quite attainable. It just takes persistence and determination.

I quit my job as an Internet Marketer about a year ago and started my own consulting firm. My consulting jobs were not “steady” so I decided to do what I do best, and that was to create/buy websites, market them and make money off of them. This way I would have something to fill the gaps if consultant projects dropped.

I have now gotten to the point where I have raised my consultant fees, and decline most projects (usually because I just don’t like the project/people) because I can make more money with my own sites than with my original consultant fees.

Plus, on top of that, if you form a legitimate business, (like an LLC or corporation), there are all kinds of tax breaks you get, which makes your money go a lot farther.

I am truly happy, make a decent living (I am no where near “rich”), love what I do, love the people that I work with (clients,my contractors and ofcourse fellow DP’ers). It is all that I could ask for. Plus, if it is a nice day, I can decide not to work that day and go canoeing or hiking.

My best advice is to “diversify” your web site portfolio. For example, if the site you have now makes money off of Adsense, then start a web site on a different topic, or start a web site and try affiliate marketing. The more you diversify, the more you can sustain when a Google algorithim change hits (can we all say Big Daddy?).

So diversify and go for it!!!!

well, it's up to how you take this internet business seriously... remember the formula of success of Thomas A. Edison... 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration

True enough, but if the companies that make the tubes that the internet goes through die off then the internet will eventually die.

No tubes = no repairs to the internet when parts break.

How much $$$ do you need to make a living ?
4-5 is a to long time. Go on building sites/pages, learn new stuff and you will make it within 1 year for sure.

    Gooooooooooooooood luck.

One of the quotes I like! I'm going to blog about this quote, I think! Too often we buy houses using people who rent, we go to health clubs with people who only work there, we eat in restaurants where the staff don't know what the food tastes like, because their boss forbids them to eat there; and we drink coffee in coffee shops owned by people who can't tell a coffee bean from a soya bean.

Last year I bought a car from a guy who didn't even drive that brand! What are we doing?

I don't believe it's possible to earn a living doing nothing (nothing = adsense, affiliate programs, etc.), unless you have a really HUGE traffic.

It took me two years to make a living online. I don't earn much but I'm always getting better and better. I was too stubborn at first. I could've listened to some good advice and be here sooner.

I love reading what everyone has been doing... Definitely makes me want to push forward. I've been dabbling online for ages, but never making money at it since it was never my goal.

But I'm going to re-tweak my goals now....

I was at $10k/mo about 9 months after I built my first website of my own. Just keep hacking at it, and you'll get there :)
