I'm not sure how many customers are potentially linked in and care about twitter in most areas. Seems like a small percentage, but I suppose it all adds up when you do many small percentage gain ideas.
Twitter is easy to use just don't add and remove friends to quickly. Just sign up for an account. Then begin posting. Once you get some followers you will get more and more visits to your twitter page along with new followers.
First, create an account and start following people in your target niche. Second, send various updates in a good time interval (say 3 or 4 hours). You can use Socialoomph to schedule your tweets. Various means from personal, sometimes useless, to informative such as your blog posts. Let your followers feels that they are following a real live person and not a marketing robot. Retweet some interesting updates from your followers from time to time and don't forget to respond to them. Hope you found this helpful
Twitter has been huge for me in generating traffic. The best tip I can give is to make sure you connect with others as often as you promote your own site. You can build these relationships by replying to and retweeting. If you can establish these relationships people will be much more likely to click on your links and visit your site.
