One thing to remember, though, is that for a backlink to really 'count' or have efficacy, it needs to come from a relevant site from a relevant niche that has authority and doesn't have any sort of spammy marketing in it.

I don't see any spammy marketing going INTO the site (because the site is pretty new) but if Google sees spammy marketing going OUT of the site - meaning, a lot of guest posting in irrelevant niches and a lot of unrelated anchor texts, to a lot of unrelated websites, then it could not only hurt the website offering the guest posting, but it might hurt the websites doing the guest posting.

You might want to disavow the link in your webmaster tools if you've already done this so you're not penalized for this activity.

The site is new, is not getting comments and has no page rank so I don't think many people would want to submit a guest post for a backlink there.

I know you have to start somewhere but wouldn't it be better to build up the traffic and get comments so people will see it as a good place to guest post?
