Everybody want to see proof as getting 5000$ from forums which is quite difficult to monetize seems too much.

    Hi,
Your friend might be right. A large forum with about 30,000 members will be pure gold. For those that know what I am talking about, it can be a win win situation. You can do this:

Have your friend invest with you and if he refuses, then don't do it. Never believe those that have money ideas, but always broke.

The name of the forum should be your biggest asset. Brain storm names. Spend 90% of your time coming up with a good name. The rest of the stuff you can buy or better yet read this thread to get some promotion ideas.

I am still not able to get that logic. Why that guy would do all that and that too for no personal interest.

You invest $5000 and then make $5000 every month is something that is still bouncing off my heads.

BTW, when you say making $5000 every month, means that there will tons of traffic for which you will need a powerful dedicated server. Shared host will simply fire your account...

Hmm. Forums are hard to monetize. Users don't click on ads no where near as much. I would pass.

To be frank, I have never clicked on any ad, even in DP even if I found it of my interest because my full attention is on the threads and posts and I would not divert my mind to other place.

I agree with you 100% on that. Thank you for reminding me.

Thank you for this great advice. I admit, I did not even think about that.

What kind of information should I ask for, other than what I listed here?
    Thank you

I think that your post is off subject.

Frankly speaking, I never trust all this even if someone is giving a proof. Because if that's possible, then why that guy is not making all the money himself and why he is expecting others to earn so much money. It has no logic at all.

If I had $5000, I would put that money in a fixed deposit. At least I was assure that the money is safe for my future use.

True businessmen never disclose their trade secrets. And those who do are not businessmen.

Making $5000 from a forum is nearly impossible, i had seen some forums making in the range of$500 - $800 in my personal contacts. Investing $5000 to promote a forum is not worth trying

If I where you I'd invest that $5000,- in different projects, never put all your eggs in one basket.

Actually, I would not suggest you paying $5000 to anyone that promises to make you big money for a forum. DO NOT DO IT!!! The point is, you can get that traffic on your own and build your own website in faster than 6 months. So, your going to wait around for half a year while your $5000 is gone until you start seeing money from it? No....If I were you, i would get a cheap domain at hostgator for $10 a month, and start you own forum. Then, start blog commenting with your url link in the anchor and particpate in forums in order to get some traffic to your site. If you do this faithfully everday for at least 4-5 hours, your forum will be making money for you in less than 1 month! Save your money and tell that guy to find another sucker :)

A lady that I know, is selling me her forums with a Vbulletin script for $250 dollars. The link to the forums is checkthisup.com. I have been trying to help her promote this forums for few weeks.

She has over 1000 members so far; but she said that she only makes average 50 dollars a month. The forums have been running for only two months.

I was thinking about spending maybe $500 on advertisement and see how things will go. If I see an increase in ad revenue I may spend more.

My goal is to spend about 10 to 15% a month from ad revenue and try at the same time to find other sources of income from the forums.

I have a feeling that it will work, but I admit that I don't have the right tools to make things work.

I hope I have been clear.

I would ask for some examples of sites he has done this with. It's simple to login and view the payment information if he is willing to allow it and if he is not then there is no way I would do this.
