I am a freelance graphic designer & web developer and there are a few affiliates that I feel I could make better banner ads than the ones they offer. Others I'd like to have 300x250 banners and they don't offer them. Are we allowed to make our own?
I'm not sure how "legal" this is but I've done it and gotten paid from sales. Basically I take a CJ-generated text link and use my own graphic with it instead of the official text.
I would not risk using of my own banner. Send your banner to your affiliate manager and ask him/her if its OK. Always play safe. You don't want your account to show thousands of sales and get the ban hammer at the time of payment for such a silly reason.
Same here, never had a problem. Some companies make banners that are simply so terrbile that they'll never generate clicks, let alone sales. Just be careful about using logos/obvious trademarks etc.
That's a good point. Though if your homemade banner did generate thousands of sales you should really be working as a high end graphic designer.
Sounds good. I'll email the banner(s) for approval. Defiantly not worth getting banned over. I just think there are products in their catalog that match my target audience more than what they currently advertise via banner. There's also a case where they have a great banner but its only 125x125 and I want a 300x250 version. I do work as a high end graphic designer but I typically design & code full websites not banners. I've made banners for clients before, their actually kind of fun to design.
