I read in Johns blog that if basically if you use less adsense it will increase your earnings. Now I gave this a try by cutting out a text link and a sidebar on my proxy and so far it has increased my earnings per click by quite a bit. What are yalls opinions on this?

I'd be interested to know: you say it increased your earnings per click, but what did it do to your overall earnings with fewer ads to be clicked?

Well, it's common sense, if you think of it from the user's point of view.

Some is much more bound to click a link on www.unblockcity.com than on www.zmyspaceproxy.com, simply because it's not as neat and cluttered, and the Ads are much easier to see and read. I personally hate it when a site tries to get in my face with content. Content is good, but too much is intimidating.

Yes, I also have this experience, after using only one AdSense Unit on the top of left side block (before : 3 units), suddenly the EPC is increasing and the number of clicks are stable.

With the site I tried it on my clicks havent gone down since the ads I deleted didnt have the best ctr only supplying ~10% of my clicks, I think getting rid of them also may drive more clicks because it now looks neater, but my total earnings have gone up. Im going to wait a week before I post by what percentage.

You are suppose to be showing all the higher paying links if you show fewer of them.

i've posted this many times, but i dont see anybody quoting ME ..
This is (usually) true.. i've done it myself.. Less ads = higher eCPM and higher CTR = more $$

Lol, people like to hear things repeated many times ;) You gotta keep repeating!!!

How many ad units/link units per page do you recommenced for an average size web page?

My preference is set at 2-3 AD units max. I'm starting to hate link units..... high CTR but little conversion lately.

I agree with this. Sometimes it is easier said than done, but keeping Google Ads to a minimum does seem to help increase both my CTR and Earnings.

I am a little confused with this so you are saying if you place less ads on your page that the clicks will be higher paying or what I am confused, thanks

The way adwords/adsense works is the more advertisers bid the higher their ad will show for that keyword. So if a site has slots for 10 ads it will show the ads for the top 10 bidders, now take away some ads where you only have 5 slots and it will only show the top 5.

Disclaimer:Adwords/adsense is a lot more complicated and I greatly simplified things but thats the jist of theory.

lol, you should keep positing links to your blog in these kind of threads from time to time. The more you repeat it, the more people will find out and will eventually start quoting you :)

yea i am just experiencing it now, removing ads from pages where i put the ads below the content or in low performing penny channels seem to increase my cpc, ctr and total earning overall

but the problem is, how do u earn EVEN MORE when ur cpc and ctr reaches its optimized level and you are not going to show more ads on penny pages that bring down the overall earning ... more traffic = more ads shown ... so is more traffic going to lower the cpc? but it increase clicks in a way ...
