    It's not a good idea to make an automated blog as the content is not going to be unique. You may even get penalized or banned from Google.

    There are a few way to earn,just to list a few
    -placing adsense code
    -placing affiliate link
    -selling link if your site have high PR
    -selling banner ads

    you got to add a personal touch that offers useful info that's entertaining that's all you really need besides some key blog site submissions and direct advertising then it should go viral from there.

    yeah you are rit its right way to make money online and 1 more thing your content should be attractive i.e. should be unique & if proper promotion is done for that blog than definitely one can make money with blogs.:)
