Make DP a private forum

My suggestion would be to make certain sections of this forum private from the public. They don't need to see the behind the scenes webmastering techniques, only the finished product. I'm sure there will alot of opposition to this idea due to loss of revenue and backlinks but it makes sense. Just don't ban me.:p

you already have the underground section, if you want to post something that is restricted to members only, you can post it in the underground section.

will loose lot of traffic if all sections are hidden, lot of hits come from search engines.

We have the underground section, and that seems to be enough.

Surely the general public wouldn't be on here trying to find out how a particular site was made, unless they were actually trying to build a website themselves... so they are really mainly webmasters anyway... :/

If people find interesting information here and find the forums useful, they go and register themselves. If everything will be hidden from the guests, how many of them will actually register on the forums?

I totally agree. I've been reading around the past few days, and registered today because I think this forum has great content and I want to participate on it. But if I had to register to read the content, I'd have pass ;)

We don't need any private, and i guess shawn don't need it too. This is a revenue sharing forum and we get much revenue from guests here.If we need any private talks there is already underground.
Sharing knowledge wins over not sharing.
This is the main reason why Dp is so famous over net, being free

A lot of people lurk around the forum, especially newbies looking for tips etc. Others find the forum through Search Engines while searching for some problem etc. I myself was a guest to this forum for more than a year and was using services like the Free Keyword Suggestion Tool offered at DP. It was after around a year that I finally joined DP. So I dont think it will be a good idea to make the forum private.
