If you guys are building a rather large website, that may take months to finish, would you ftp it up in pieces, to start getting pages indexed, etc.... or would you just wait until the whole site is finished then make it live ?
    Thanks

I would upload all at once after its finished. Alternatively, you can upload by bits and block the bots by using robots.txt.

I would get some content up (2 or 3 pages) and get it indexed ASAP. Try to have more than just 1 page.

agree, I recently launched a site having had a holding page with some text blurb (2 paragraphs) up for around 6 months before launch and since going live it has suffered no sandbox symptoms whatsoever.

I think its a gud idea to upload it in chunk and pieces, but one word do not place any "dummy text" or "lorem ipsum" thing.

The reality is your site will never be finished anyhow; you will always to adding/changing/editing. So why not get something up sooner rather than later. In addition, your visitor feedback tells you a lot about who is visiting and what they are interested in. The sooner you can obtain that kind of real world data the easier it will be to focus your time on what visitors actually want, not what you think they want.

Definitely get at least one page up ASAP. Two or three pages is better.

Loading it up in pieces could trick google into thinking you website is being update daily. It could help you very much.:)

I always upload a at least placeholder page when I first buy a domain. It will start the aging clock on your site. Then I add pages as they are finished, one at a time.
