None of this guys over here read that I was paying 4$ for the logo, I had posted it somewhere in the middle of the thread. Not a single entry contented me;(

You said you have $4 left not your new offer is $4

I'm guessing those people are paying you for your content writing? do they pay $1-4 or what?

Looking at the terribly bad response to this thread, I wish i shldnt have opened this thread just to see some stingy fellows, more enthralled abt money rather than of showing some creativity.

up at 6:48am on a sunday davey :| warrior!. the fact is, the better designers don't come on here to spend ages making logo's for a dollar. i mean, i like being creative, but i like that creativeness bulking up my bank balance a little bit, thats the reason i come on dp, as do most people, to make MONEY, and lot's of it.

Im definitely with Speno on this, you would be better off offering something to us in exchange, such as a 500 word article to the winner or similar. $1 is a complete insult to the creative ones on here - financial situations aside, you should consider what goes into making some of the logo's on here. You do seem like a good guy but think about what you are asking of people here...

I haven't entered many competitions recently and am steadily going towards the "offering" design services for my own set fee purely because of the majority of contests offering peanuts to the winner. Great for beginners, but expect beginner work.

    Design strike anyone? :x

I don't think he is here any more, but i made something so can you guys tell me how good it is and like give me advice on it, if this thread is giong to waste i might as well get something useful from it.

So say that logo at the top in post #41 how could i improve that?

Personally i don't feel the font quite works with this kind of business, needs to be more curley? and a logo with a link to writing?

Would it be better if the c was the other way so it was mirrored, or does that send out the wrong message? Lost most of my fav fonts in a reinstall, i forgot to save them :( so i have to start all over again

    Good points mate.

I've stopped entering anywhere near as many as I used to. I used to do it purely for portfolio bulking but then started to win and it can get a bit addictive but since i've had my own company for a few years anyway, it needs to be worth me spending my time on when i could be earning £30 an hour doing my client work.

These days I usually will only enter template contests because this is an area of my folio that is the most important to me. If i happen to win a few hundred quid doing them, then all the better for that.

At the end of the day, the people who design for a living won't be able to work for $1, and the students and schoolkids etc. who could do with the extra few bob probably don't think a dollar is worth it.

I was surprised the CH is from the UK, they must know that 50p (minus paypal charges) is an insult.

If you can only afford that amount then fair enough, but you gotta realise you get what you pay for and you can't be too picky or expect any revisions etc. Time is valuable to everyone.

Ace, let me be the big brother offering advice. In a way it's great that you helped this guy with the logo. This shows you're a nice guy. It's good to help others. But when someone offers only $1 this is an insult so you should work out the difference between helping someone and between being taken advantage of.

I am not a designer but I reckon the writers for which you were meant to do a logo prefer more caligraphic fonts like the ones you used for the slogan, not the modern font you used for the actual logo. Also, the logo colour is probably too bright for these guys. They would prefer something more maroon (old book feel). Also if you put a dot after each capital (logo name) as the guy indicated would have been another thing the "ch" wanted. I could be completely wrong about design wise feedback, but I think I am right about helping someone and actually being taken advantage of.

Heckey: What's rubbish? The fact I don't whore my design skills for less than it costs for me to goto the toilet in a London train station? Please enlighten me...

If I offer to design a logo for $20, I'm going to spend more time on it than if im competing against people wanting top quality designs at such ridiculously low prices.

Davey: Agreed, templates are becoming my next port of call - they seem to be so boring to make tho :( My next project is learning to design and code to WP with CSS, something I've touched on this week, but its a little bland so far lol!

No, I'm saying the contest rewards are becoming less appealing to the designers... some of the work here could be sold for upwards of £30 ($60) and is going for $10 on average
