Major Site Update <=> CPM Drop?

I recently updated my site. The design, flow, layout, everything. Made it so it loads faster, so that its more efficient. The impressions on Google dropped, but the CTR is higher, so that the clicks are now more qualitative. With an average of 600-800 clicks per day, I used to get $50-$60 from Adsense, but now, that income has dropped to less than $20 with same amount of clicks.

    Is this normal?

    Thanks, Armin

I've removed all adsense ads on saturday for ~10 hours. Since then my cpm is only half what it used to be. Did your update include a timeframe where no ads were shown? Maybe the placements were lost during this timeframe.

The update took about a day to implement.... it was gradual. Positions of ads didnt change almost AT ALL, and ads were being displayed throughout, so there was no time frame where no ads were being displayed really.
