    NO directories have been penalized

    who says they have

this is why i believe it is just a googlebot crawl error which has been mentioned recently

my Bidding Directory was one that completely vanished from Google 2 weeks ago it re-entered on page 10 for its domain. Last week it was upto page 6 and now today its upto page 3 and climbing i have also seen the likes of Alive and Zorg both climbing back up the rankings for there domains as well

I think it has more to do with the directory software doing something Googlebot does not like... ;)

Fix that, and the problems solved...

Okay, I read it, read it again, then put my glasses on and read it again, properly of course. Do you see dmoz taken away as the primary result for its own domain name dmoz? do you? http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=dmoz&meta= NOPE
Now do you see avivadirectory show as number 1 for theirs? http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=avivadirectory&meta= YEP

So what does this PROPER reading tell me? It tells me that there is still a poblem, the thread you posted on was purley dmoz related and related to looping causing the googlebots to fail on a full crawl.

Go do some homework before giving us all false hope, your not getting it? If you don't get called as first for your own domain name then surely something is wrong?
