I experienced a big drop on my traffic too .. from 7,5K to 5K daily .. and this is not the first time .. We can remember what happen on 28 May of this sqame Year ..a similar drop on traffic on the majority of sites .
but some keywords one of my site is higher ranking result. is google try to major update in ranking? I saw some of the Article directory, one way directory shut down their sites.
Hi I just found this article dir "http://www.article-warehouse.com/" closed. Dir - I forgot right now..
i think the example that you mention is not a sign of major serp update. it may be on daily updates but i dont think that google has made a major update
2 of my sites ranked 1st page for extremely completive words and disappeared from serps for 12 days. Now they came back and have been holding steady for 6 days. I did not make any changes, just waited out the storm.
Some old domains that where completely filtered out of the results are coming back with a vengance. Hope this sticks
Google seems to update the SERPS on the fly these days. I don't know what all the fuss is about. It's competitive to stay relevant for a keyword that's for sure.
mine just jumped up again. Was always getting 3000+ google clicks a day before mat 18th, it dropped to 300 a day till june 18th, when it picked back up! Than 4 days later, it dropped off again, back to 300 a day. Now, 2 days ago it picked up again back to the original level. Hope it's over
A lot of people say don't worry. If you are a business and have employees that work for you and you loose 80% of your traffic then that could mean you have to layoff most of your employees and even may make you loose your business. I'm sure it's only temporary, but you can never know as I've had sites that have ranked really well and then suddenly drop of and stay dropped of. If you have look at some of my threads, you will see that I only get links pointing to my site for the traffic. I don't bother with getting high PR that much, just links for traffic, which is mainly advertising really. When you do this, your site becomes more popular, gets a bigger alexa ranking from your traffic from the links and if your site is good then people will automatically link to it giving your serp and PR boosts anyway. This way, if your rankings fall then your loss of traffic percentage is not so large. Although, it's up to you what you do, but this is the way I prefer to do things.
Do you research why those sites were dropped? It is very interesting to know what should we do to avoid such things. My site has 5 months age and got PR4 its first PR update. And I cannot understand why. I haven't any backlink higher PR4. I think it happened mistakenly and site will be dropped next PR update. I would like to support my PR but I have no time to continue hard linking day by day now...
one of my site went from PR2 -> 4 , despite it had NIL traffic. I think google now makes the site's age as a big factor which affects the PR. btw my site has been online for 4 years, it's personal blog.
