There is no reason for Google to make this " Major Google algo change" I always try to think, what would i do to improve search results.... Does it make any sense????? It will never matter how you type in your search terms in Google "lower or capital case"!!!! On the other hand, if i am promoting some search term on my site, capital case would stress its importance, thus lifting the position of this very term in SEs.

I agree with you, it doesn't make much sense for them to change this. But if this is a glitch, it has been happening for over 2 months, and that begs the question of how long a glitch must exist before it can be considered part of the algo. Also though, I could imagine capital letters making a difference in terms of relevance. Proper nouns like the name of book versus just the nouns not meant to indicate a book title.

To differentiate a proper noun from just a noun is important, this does make sense!!! It is not a glitch in this case...

    No change in results here.

This was most likely just a datacenter discrepancy.

Also, I think the screen shots indicate a lot. There is that one site which appears out of nowhere and has the exact capitalization of the first two words, "Engagement rings".

David, if you look at the screen shots, you can see that they are from the same datacenters.

Yes, I have experienced this in last few weeks. Not too sure about how capitalization affects relevancy. However, it could be useful while search people names.

You don't have to believe the screen shots. Simply try it and you will find that the OP is correct. To determine if both results you are comparing are from the same datacenter, hove over the "cached" link at look at the IP address. That is the address of the DC you received results from.

Yes, it is true certainly for engagement rings. I have seen the same with a couple of other keywords. But, the difference is SERPs is not much. For engagement rings, #3 and #4 are reversed. That simply tells me they are really in a virtual tie and a minor change in the search term effects their position.

I dont think this keyword capitalisation really matters as such as a Engagement ring stands only as a Engagement ring ....

Search Engines are into LSI(Latent Semantic Indexing) now. I dont find SE's relevancy will vary for results to Uppercases, lowercase.

i don't think is good if the information is true , i want to search once not 10 times , example : music, Music , MUSIC .... and get different results everytime , is a waste of time

Well you might be surprised...but maybe thats the exact goal what Google wants to achieve, make seos life harder ;)

However this is true for some keywords, but hasn't been applied for other keywords...and if you make a test query make sure private web search is turned off (i almost made a big gap by not turning it off).

Funny you should mention this. For one of my keyword terms, I had focused on making sure Web was upper-case - interestingly enough, my ranking improved dramatically after changing it to lower-case (in both Google and Yahoo). I think you are dead on.

Thanks Stealthy. I wonder which keyword research company will be the first to embrace this. Wordze always seems to be on the cutting edge. I would guess they would want to wait to see if their is an official announcement or confirmation from Google, but that may never happen. Although it seems like the type of thing they would either confirm or deny. It could be a glitch, but 2 months is a pretty long time for a glitch to still be at large.
