Major Google/Adsense problem

Is anybody having this problem or is it just me? First of all I have high speed internet and I'm using Mozilla as my browser. When I put in a search term in the Mozilla browser or Google search I get the normal page list of sites relevent to my keywords but when I click on a site it's re-directing my to a different site other than the one I choose. In the Mozilla browser window I get "http://relevantwebsearches.com/searchn.php?s=1&q=S8lMzyxJzCnIz8wr4TTiNDY3Sc03Sk4rTDQxMks0zy01yU0qSS_ITTcCAA~~" and then a page that says "The document has moved here. Wait..." then I get a site not even relevent to the site I originally clicked on. Also my search is very slow using Google or any other search engine listed on the Mozilla page. Plus I can't get into my google adsense or analytic accounts. I keep getting " Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.google.com." I can't access either account using AOL or IE either but these two browsers are not causing the other problems I'm having. AOL and IE is not re-directing me nor are they slow. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. You should know that I've uninstaled and reinsalled Mozilla twice, scan my computer with my anti-virus, "Malwarebyte's" and even used "Hijack This" and found nothing. this has been going on now for around 3 days now.

    Thanks,

    PJS

Thats funky, I was thinking that it could be your service provider, but that might be a virus of some sort

I'm using comcast. I spoke with them yesterday and they ran a diagnostic test with no problem on there side. They suggested it may be a Mozilla problem so I'm waiting for an answer from Mozilla support.

I removed Mozilla and replaced it with Opera and I'm not having the re-directing problem anymore but I still can't get into my adsense or analytic accounts on any browser. I keep gettin an "error 404" or "The page cannot be displayed. The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings." I had no problem getting into my accounts 3 days ago.

    Hi PJS,

This sounds like a hosts file issue.

Could you try hitting the Windows key+R to bring up a 'Run' dialog box (or go to Start->Run), copy/paste the following in the box and pressing Enter:

    %WINDIR%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

When it asks you to choose a program to open the file, choose Notepad. If it is not empty, do a search for 'google' and remove any entries in there.

There is also a way to change the 'hosts' filename/directory in the registry I believe. Something could have modified that key, so if you're still having problems you might try Google'ing about it.

    -----

PJS - the above info was correct for me-- I am a computer novice -- so the instructions below are in that format -- it may help
I have just spent 3 of my evenings attempting to fix this evil thing.

Here is what I found --
go to "Start" "Run" and type in: "C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\hosts"

Open this with the Program "Notepad"

When you open this -- do you see all sorts of "206.11.803 google.fr" type references in the top several lines? This is before you get to the "##Copyright 1999-2003" section and instructions discussing how each line needs to have its own entry.

If so -- here is your fix -- (if not, I can't help)

What needs to happen is that you need to get rid of all the "google." lines at the top. That is where the browser Hijackers reside.

The only way I found to do this was to go into my Computer - C drive, "Windows" folder, "System32" folder, "drivers" folder, "etc" folder. The problem was that I could not figure out how to modify the "hosts" file and save it after I had deleted the "google" references. (I read something this evening that may have said to save it as "text".)
I got lucky and my computer had saved an older host file from 2 months before called "host.o1d" -- it did not have all the "google" lines at the top (you can check by opening with Notepad). Therefore, I deleted the "hosts" file and then renamed "host.o1d" to "host" (I also made a copy of this good file as "host.o1d" as a back-up). Then I went to the recycle bin and deleted the "host" file.

I then went to the "Start" menu and right clicked on "My Computer" and then went to the "System Restore" tab and clicked the "Turn off system Restore on All drives box"

I did a reboot -- and did a virus scan with XoftSpySE (which had detected the 3 Trojan files, but could not clean them) and they were cleaned off. My internet is now operating fine. Wahooo!!!

If you do not have an old host file, I am unsure how to modify the existing "hosts" file and then save it. Someone else may be able to help you with that. I am not computer expert -- I have just done a lot of trial and error over the past few days.

Remeber to go back and turn into "Start" right click "My computer", "System restore" tab and unclick the "Turn off System Restore on all Drivers" box after the reboot.

    I hope this helps!

Thank You everyone for all your help. Someone on another forum suggested I download "Spyware Doctor" or "Spybot". I downloaded "Spyware Doctor" and it showed 23 website hijack threats. After I quarentined them everything went back to normal and I was even able to get back into my adsense account. After three days of trying to figure this out the kids are not allowed on this computer for a long time.

    Thanks Again,

    PJS
