Major change on Google SERP algorithm

Discussion in 'Google' started by MikePrice, Aug 6, 2008.

I have loss SERP on one of my site, previously for some keywords SERP listed at the 1st or 2nd page from million result. But recently all position was gone and I have no visitor from google anymore. Nothing change on PR, only SERP.

Is there any suggestion to improve SERP beside Link Building? Maybe change for some content?

    Thanks / Mike

So, you are saying because you lost some rankings that Google, one of the biggest companies in the world, has changed their whole (and best) search algorithm?

Mike, you might want to check the quality of your backlinks. You might have a lot of links coming from other sites but if they are coming from "bad neighborhoods" or banned sites, that would affect your rankings on Google.

I had the same problem on the last Google dance before this one.
My hits on a few of my sites drop considerable. I just left it and waited for Google to do its dance this time and my PR went up 1 and the hits seem to be coming back. Very Strange

Thanks szsoomro, my opinion same as yours, I move all "one way link exchange" which is not relate to my niche, even they have higher PR than mine.

At least there is scubita agree with me. Thanks.

hi there maybe you recieved a penalty from google for some reason

try typing your website name in to a google search engine to see if it comes up. If it doesnt you may have been deleted

if it does come done just check further down the search page results to see if your site has moved down

Is your site still listed in google or check whether the inner pages of your sites listed or not ?

Yeah, google really getting tighter and tighter. Just hope what are being hit are those who jumping beyond and not those who really deserved to rank.

make 100% certain your site wasn't hacked. check every file, run a xenu link sleuth on it. see what comes up.

that said, if your content isn't unique maybe that's your reason right there. no need to try the above.

In my opinion I think you have lost some of the quality links you was have, check your backlinks and you will find why?

As I read on our local news paper, these major change because "Anna Patterson" the owner of cuil (previously is Google's developer) has claim that their quality searcher better than Google. What about this opinion?

As I said above "Nothing change on PR, only SERP." Thats mean my site still indexed and has PR, only SERP was drop to nowhere.

I had the same thing happen starting yesterday. I did some backlink building that gave me a boost a few days later, now a few days later my SERPS are out of google (but my site isn't banned and if i search for the title of my site im #1).

I had this happen over a month ago on this same site and I built some backlinks and I was good to go again. Although this is on a new domain cause I 301 redirected it from the previous domain to this one, BUT I didn't lose any traffic for the last month and half and like I said I had a boost until yesterday.

If it was some sort of update, I increased one spot to result #8.
But more than likely it has been the link building I have been doing :D

It happens a lot.. New sites come up .. many sites go down.. There is nothing constant in Search engine rankings.. We must take it in our stride and keep on adding quality content to our site..... And of course get high quality backlinks as well.. In the long term this would help more than daily tracking of search engine rankings.. I know people who are new are really excited about their business so they panic with sudden drop in rankings .. My advice to them would be don't worry if you have good content.. your site will top rankings again...

    Cheers,
    Anup
