Major Algo change or just Google Dance?

I've noticed a lot of changes in G rankings for many of my sites recently, including a Dallas Mortgage site I'm doing a little work on.

The changes in ranking seem more substanial and more widespread than normal, id there a major algo change happening or is it just google dance do you think?

 

i'm seeing a major change in SERP in some of the keywords i'm targeting. I think there is some major update going on.

 

haven't noticed anything major actually, pretty steady in most of my niches.

 

I have about a dozen sites and have seen only a minor change in results for the keywords that I follow. That change seems to favor older sites which I believe is because they have more trackable history. Because this is the 'gift' season I think there are a lot of new sites each year that are built just for this seasonal shopping and that brings in fresh spam-sites. IMO, G's natural defense is to tighten the rules and that favors sites that have more historical data available for this season, year-over-year.

 

I have seen fluctuated in results but not a major update. It is just a small dance.

I can say the same. A lot of changes already have happened during this year, everyone, including G, needs some rest.

 

I don't have any idea is it google dance or not, but google is changing their ranking policy to prohibit spam results as I learn from their blog update.

It's probably a "wave" from the last update that happened. I doubt it's anything major because the sites I have noticed that had their position fluctuate have already come back up.

 

they have been making updates since oct 22nd. My guess is they will continue into february

I'm really surprise to see my small network site gain more traffic , in the same keywords in contrary to dropping of SERPs in main site.

 

i think its google dancing but who knows. It could be anything :/ the seo game is crazy

 

I started seeing this about a week ago on many sites. Just in the last few days it has been more noticeable across many sites. Has anyone else seen this?

It seems that major Changes are going to happen in the Google Algrorithm. My Few sites had been dropped from the Rankings...................

 

I'm so glad I found this thread. I seriously thought google had punished my site. I have been making niche different sites since the beginning of 2010, and around December 12 (when this thread was started) I also noticed that major changes in rankings.

Mostly my rankings dropped for many keywords. I thought it was just one of my sites first (because of increased link building), but it seems to have happened to all my sites (also sites where I have been much less aggressive with link building).

It might seem that google have put more weight on older and more established sites (probably other things as well). I don't know. I'm just glad my site was not punished like I first thought.
