Hi fellow businesspersons I'm looking for a inventory management system, Stock levels, EOQ, and etc are irrelevant to me. I own/ operate 25 boats in a not-so-far-away from "rental" business model. I'm looking to track repairs (oil changes, broken wiring) Very important for me to track total cost of ownership of varying types of vessels: Cost of buying the boat (inventory) + inventory purchases (oil, life jackets) - what I sell the boat for at end of depreciation term. Probably SQL or PHP based system. Ideally would plug into Joomla CMS the GNU'errrrrr the better. ideas of what's availible? Thanks!
Why not just make a spreadsheet of this data. You could use something like Google's free, online version found here.
Only for the same reasons that everyone loves Google Analytics, It takes the excell (or other spreadsheet data) and makes it into a easily readable visual display, without any hand-creation of the charts. How many visitors to my site in the past week? - oh there's the graph automatically generated. with a fleet management software, I should be able to plug-in the data, and have it spit out my profit/loss. Then I should be able to break that down under a multi-criteria search. I.E. do I lose more money when I buy identical boats, but brands are different? (due to resale, brand X engine is more expensive than Y to carry)
Or, Put it this way, You're the CEO of Enterprise-Rent-A-Car. You have 5 minutes to decide if you should order 10,000 Hyundai's or Ferrari's. do you run a report .xls data? or do you log into the fleet management system? (I can't post links- google search enterprise fleet management)
Sorry for the wrong advice. From your original post all you said was that you wanted to be able to track repairs and how much this subtracts from the overall price of the vehicle once you decide to sell it so you know how much it is worth. I recommended Excel, or something like it because they accept formulas, can be automated, and can output graphs... if that is now a requirement.
