you Definitely need capture "permission to communicate"! Do this by offering an incentive (report, coupon, video, etc.) for your visitors to Follow you on Twitter, Like you on FB, or best yet, give you their emails! Then you can keep in touch via email.
1) Call to action for them to sign up your newsletter, like your facebook , follow your twitter or bookmark your site. 2) Provide some giveaway like contest, some free tool , free tips and information so they will keep coming back to look for the result.
Hey rickyfantana, Like the others said make sure to ALWAYS have great and compelling information on your site that will grab their attention and keep them reading. Try to always ad something new and interesting at least once a day, and Google can even help you accomplish this task if you can't think of anything. Search for Google Alerts and use it to help you find news related to your website everyday, and you can even set the times that it alerts you. What it does is sends you an email about every new post/topic/website page it found that day relating to the term you put in and then emails it to you for you to search through and help you find content. Also make sure that if you have a multiple page website(which I am sure you probably do) then make sure your page is SUPER EASY to navigate. There is nothing more frustrating then for it to be hard to navigate a website, and trust me if it isn't easy to navigate a site then people don't have a problem leaving in an instant. Also, like others said you could also start a newsletter or offer them a free report or something so every time they get that newsletter or open up that report they remember that they are getting it from you/your site. You want to show them that you are an authority in your field. And like awcguy said, you want to make it personal. If you can show them you are an authority and you are their friend then you will certainly have them coming back for more.
The best way to convert new visitors to regular visitors is to offer them both valuable and great content. This applies to all kinds of websites. If you're out there to promote an eBook then offer them a small report to get them to sign up to your newsletter. That will make it easier for you to get in touch with your target market. If you are running a monetized blog, then keep the posts coming and make them entertaining.
Why did they come in the first place? Work with that philosophy and give them what they want... and more of what they want. The customer comes first.
Put options to follow you on social communities, if they are interested in your website, then they will follow you. Also provide subscription features.
Provide them with helpful info and make them your daily visitors.... In a wee, 6 days give them helpful info and in 7th day, you can ask them to buy your product or wahtever..
