Maintaining Link Building Sheet

I am new to link building. I want to know, what are the best points I should consider while preparing and maintaining an excel sheet for the link building of some 3 or 4 websites?

What all columns should I be putting in there on the sheet?

e.g.- site URL, anchor texts, linking to, start traffic, latest traffic, backlink from, etc.
How do I manage this sheet so that I can update it daily with all the details?

If not this one, do I need to prepare a separate sheet to maintain the daily data?

Please let me know how should I maintain this sheet. I am really finding a tough time to do this.

If possible please post a screenshot with the rows and columns named in the excel sheet.

    I'll be really grateful.

    Thanks in advance.

Did you read my entire post? Or are you just concerned about increasing your post number?

first of all, you're an idiot

and to the thread starter, i do the exact same thing as you - i store my links in excel.

i have url, keyword, pr, deep link?, live?, cost

but it's a call on your part really, what do you think you need to store? i.e. i store whether the link is set live or not because if i want to use that directory again this lets me know whether it's still alive when i come back to it a few weeks later

    Yea, he is...well..
Thanks for a reply to this post. I really appreciate it.
But which tool do you use to check the links whether they are live or not?
And what about the number of links? Don't you store that data too? Any data about traffic?

The only time I keep a sheet is for when I have bought links to make sure the links stay live for as long as I have paid for. Tracking all of my links across all my sites would not be possible as there are just too many of them. I find the time better spent getting new backlinks.

i've considered developing a management tool for this - to check for live links, flag expiry dates etc, but I think such tools exist. just google "link building manager" or something.

oherwise you'll have to do it manually, like i do!
