What are the main things that a search engine checks in order to be ranked well.. I'm referring to google.co.uk on this.. I have had my main site online for a few months and have been unable to get it on the 1st or 2nd page.. yet i have bought a new domain and just put on a homepage and its on page 1 and 2 using differet keywords, which when i use on my main site dont get me ranked.. Please help
Title Tag 66% importance Keyword in the beginning of Title Tag 63% Keyword in the domain name 60% H1 Tag 49% Anchor Text in a back link 46% Keyword in the beginning of H1 Tag 45% and so on ...
Although not regarding the code etc, having a .co.uk and hosting on a uk located server helps. Having content that is written/presented for the uk, using uk english.
Hi there, The title, tags and the like do make a difference I'm sure but I'm also sure that I've read somewhere that these aren't actually counted that much these days in deciding how to rank a website? (unless your site was in a particular niche where there simply was no competition I'd assume). Isn't it mostly on the number of backlinks, etc. that reference your own page? Obviously everything that you do in terms of keywords and the like can help (so long as you don't go over the top with it as this can cause you to be penalised), but I don't think that keywords alone would get you to page one if no other popular websites are linking to your own page. Hope that helps Bex
