Do you use cPanel? You may need to enable SPF keys in your account.

Main IP should not be blacklisted for that check your server IP at http://www.kloth.net/services/dnsbl.php

Main IP should have proper rDNS

Your domain should have proper SPF record and domainkeys.

Once all above mentioned points are fixed, your host need to fight a long war with yahoo, hotmail, aol etc, gmail will not trouble you much.

Your IP have been blacklisted by the email provider.
To get your email reach in inbox, you need to get a new clean IP.

I believe that would be enough to get in touch with the web hosting provider and ask them to solve that problem for you

I am not sure how it is going to help.

It is not blacklisted rather you can call it is neither blacklisted or whitelisted. If it is blacklisted, receiver won't allow the mails. @OP, you need to add spf and domainkeys to make sure you are the authorized sender. It is better if you can get a new IP as the reputation would be better for that IP to all spam filter with spf and domainkeys installed, but even if it is not, you can still get your mails at inbox after certain days of good reputation of mail sending using spf and domainkeys.

Your web hosting company should get in touch with those free email providers and exclude from blacklists list their web hosting company
