    1. I have cpanel installed on Rackspace cloud VPS server. I have one domain named example.com pointed to one static IP given by them. For this pointing, I have to use the Rackspace Control panel having A, Cname & MX record.

I need to understand now how do we add other domains on Cpanel to point at the same server. Objective is to create as many as email id with different domain names.

Domains which I plan to add are registered with Godaddy & having Rackspace nameservers dns1.stabletransit.com & dns2.stabletransit.com

    1. Do I need to run my own Bind service.
    2. Do I need two more static IP for having my own Name server ( ns1.example.com , ns2.example.com )

    Please advice

Setup your own name servers on your VPS (bind is already installed and running if you have cPanel), create the account through cPanel. You can use just one IP address for name servers(if that is all you have), however, it does not give you redundancy.

I have two options either I use the Rackspace control panel to add CNAME, A, MX record for all the domains which I own or I enter this domain details on my own VPS server cpanel. I am confused whether I should use Rackspace DNS & reverse DNS facility or should I have my own nameservers on my this VPS cloud server. I need to know the pros & cons in both the cases.

To expand on that, I would also add the rDNS in the Rackspace panel as well. But yes, you need to add the details in WHM in order for your Nameserver(s) to resolve properly

DNS and rDNS is 2 different things. You can host your own DNS on your VPS OR use your RackSpace DNS. rDNS can only be set by the owner of the IP, i.e. the hosting provider OR the Data Center.

Bind is installed on a cPanel server by default. Now, what you have to do is, register 2 name servers with GoDaddy (the name servers are registered where the domain name is registered) and use your VPS IP (you can use the main IP of your VPS for both the name servers, redundancy is not an issue since everything will be hosted on one server). If your main domain is, yourdomain.com and is registered with goDaddy, register the name servers as ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com using the main IP. Once done, assign these new name servers to all your domains in the domain registrar panel.

cPanel creates a DNS zone on the server itself of every domain, add-on domain added on the server by default, so you don't need to create them separately. You can use the same name servers for all the domains OR you can register separate name servers for each of the domain using the same IP (one IP can be used to register multiple name servers).

Once you assign the new name servers to your domain in the domain registrar panel (in your case is GoDaddy), the DNS entries added in RackSpace panel will be of no use. Everything will work from your VPS itself.

Hope this will be useful for you.

If you have <10 domains, then use rackspace. If you have more than 10 domains, then set up your own nameservers with cpanel. It will be faster/easier for you, since you can create the DNS zones along with the cpanel account, instead of adding each DNS zone manually.
