Unless you have a big company with big needs in terms of building a complete online store, I would say none of them, but Opencart. Give it a try!
Hi, I have a big experience in working with different shopping carts and must say that each of them have their pros and cons. osCommerce is pretty easy to use and set up, but if you need to customize it, it can be really tough. CRE Loaded has a lot of contributions from Oscommerce but some of them can be difficult to install. Magento is very difficult in use. It has a complicated technical documentation and very hard coding style. So if you want to use it you will probably need some help in managing your Magento Store. Besides it is designed more for big stores. Zen Cart and CubeCart are very simple in use, but they lack features and funktionality. So anyways there is no a single shopping cart that will meet all your needs. That's why it is recommended to use an aditional software to help you manage your shopping cart. Not long ago I started to use a Store Manager, developed by MagneticOne. It is designed for different shopping carts taking into a consideration all their problematical sides. It significantly simplifies all your standard tasks like editing new products, attributes, categories, import/export files, managing customers and orders. It works pretty good!
Martin W is correct. osCommerce is seriously a pain to modify. I'm not experienced with Magento. I would recommend more of a modular type of script. Look at using a CMS and a good shopping cart addon. Joomla, Wordpress, and Drupal are good possibilities (less so Wordpress). No matter what, do the following: Make sure their support forums are active and peoples' problems are being resolved. Make sure the script is actively updated Try to use a modular shopping cart Make sure it is SEO-friendly Preferably, it should be easy to update, modify, and administer
if you really need the feautres like multisite, then there is no choice but to go for it. evaluate the features and decide the one you need.
I vote for Magento free edition........ I have built sites with magento and i can tell you, it is a powerhouse open source ecommerce CMS. because of this, it is a very complex CMS because it is unlike anything out there (framework) so that means you'll have some learning to do. Forums help somewhat, you'll learn slow, but when you pick it up, you'll start appreciating it more.
I prefer Magento. But the iScripts Multicart is open source shopping cart software. The iScripts Multicart have many features and also support many payment gateways.
I've used osCommerce for a while now and have finally gotten it to work as I want it. Magento would be great except for the fact that it's difficult to customize the code and many people (including my hosting service) say that it runs extremely slow on anything less than a dedicated server.
Just about the theme of these two ecommerce developer. Yeah, you can start with that default Magento theme. It’s better than that crappy table driven one you are currently using with osCommerce anyway. So you start with the default theme. And all is well until you try to get that stupid dog picture off of the sidebar. Some of you might have just stopped there and I can’t say that wasn’t a wise choice. But for those of you who stuck with it, this is probably only the first WTF moments in a long line with Magento.
magneto is best because it is ease of accessible ,user friendly have good rich text feature like product browsing,shipping,....
