The points he make are right on the money..why do you need a magazine style theme if you are writing one post a day, or every few days?
If you don't have multiple categories that are updated regularly, and you can keep them full...a magazine style theme is a waste of money, space and time.

Thats an interesting article...but I always feel magazine style themes give a very refreshing look to the blog and it looks more than a blog:)

I like the look as well, kanwarjot, but I really do think that it's only appropriate and effective when the blog is updated daily. I hadn't really thought about it before I read that post, but it does kind of bug me when I visit a blog with a magazine theme nd there are old items in the front page. It looks like they're trying to be more than they really are. I have learned from experience that such tactics don't pay in the blogspohere.

There are too many readers who will actually appreciate who and what you REALLY are to sell out in order to appear like a larger outfit when you are not.

Niche bloggers unite! (okay, I got carried away there...)

You might get some residual traffic with a magazine style. I have noticed that John Chow has gone to this style not sure that I like it. Pretty sure he could careless though.

I have actually made the mistake of starting blogs just because I liked the theme and had an open domain..they of course are in limbo right now :(
