CNN.com - Bernard Madoff, the mastermind behind the largest and most sweeping Ponzi scheme ever, was sentenced today to 150 years in prison. CNNMoney reports that before the sentence was read, Madoff apologized to his victims: "I cannot offer you an excuse for my behavior. I know this will not help. I'm sorry."

150 is just another number to him. Hell it could of been 30 and would of been suffice, after all he's gonna die there no matter what. Why make it a bigger number than you have to? :p

I'm surprised that his wife was allowed to keep $2million dollars. She should have been made to surrender everything. She's lucky enough that she isn't in jail too...there is no way that she didn't know something after all those years...even if she didn't, she was party to the fraud as well for spending the money and enjoying the lifestyle on the dime of others.

His wife was the bookkeeper. It is not possible that she did not know exactly what was going on.

Given the number of lives that he destroyed financially, it is too bad that they couldn't give him more than 150 years.

His wife knew about it perhaps but there was not enough evidence to convict.

I read that she is not 'out of the woods' yet....She shouldn't be able to keep one red cent IMHO. Crooks, both of them.

She must of known, living with him for that long, i think its an outrage she got 2million dollars, that money should have gone to those who lost out because of what her husband did.

Madoff is a good example of what happens to you if you steal from rich people. Its ok to steal from the poor, just do not steal from the rich.

Besides an unfair justice system, I think what he got was fair.

The next one to go down will be his wife. I look for her to be stripped of all of her property and putout on the streets.

If he were in my country it would've taken 150 years to finish the trial...

It's too bad he only got 150. Now he'll be swindling my grandchildren in a couple of generations. Another example of the wimpy US legal system.

He didn't just rob from the rich. There were many average Joes who invested in feeder funds that invested in Madoff. these are the people that work 9-5, save every pennies, and go to church every sunday. These are the people my heart goes out too. Stories of 80 yrs old having to go back to work and families losing their life savings.

It sucks for them because they didn't even know that they will investing in madoff, so when the news hit, they were like," lucky we didnt invest with that guy". oh, the irony in that.
