I recently rolled out a layout change across my network, and daily clicks went from an average of 50 per day to the low 300's. Unfortunately, RPC has dropped from an average of $0.90 per day to 0.30 per day... consistently. Is this a coincidence? It seems every time I make a change, increase traffic or CTR my RPC drops to keep me at a certain equilibrium...
hulo, You might be on to something. Anytime our CTR goes above 1.5% the CPC seems to drop. It could just be a coincidence. - Compu
the more clicks you get, the more budgets you are likely eating up. once you eat up the top advertisers for your niche, they are replaced by lower paying ads (in many cases MUCH lower). so if, for example, your first 10 clicks are worth $1 each and the next 50 clicks are only worth 10 cents. your average rpc would only be .25 cents jmo
That has been what Ive always noticed too with ypn, the more clicks and better days I got, the more my RPC plummeted. It's hard to tweak to do better, because if you get more traffic, you get more clicks, but then the amount each click is worth drops much lower, that I actualy do better on low click days.
Very strange. What is the reasoning behind this? It's not like I am depleting an entire ad category of the higher paying advertising dollars with my measly 300 clicks a day...
