I have had no luck with Commission Junction affiliate products, and don't even bother using them on my sites, but I logged on today just for the heck of it, and found that one of my sites had generated a sale and I made $11.00 commission from it. I guess I had a link floating around that someone found and I had forgotten to remove. Pretty cool. I'm going to put a little more effort into CJ from now on.
Congrats! It can take awhile to find the 'magic combo' with CJ. Once you do, you can nice revs to cover site costs.
Thanks..I found the ad that was clicked...and I've set up a little affiliate shop for that site with similar products. Who knows, maybe it will generate a few bucks.
Hey nice, this kind of thing happened to me too. I had a blog with blogger that I gave up but never removed. Sometimes I have sales from it. Clickbank products, so the commissions are sometimes cool. Maybe I should update it.
Christian congrats. What kind of ad did you put up? Banner, graphic, text link? Was this just an ad for CJ itself or for one of the vendors listed among the CJ affiliate programs?
It was a text link for a product that one of the affiliate vendors has. It was a $300 product so the commission was decent. I built a little store with a handful of similar products. The site gets good adsense click action, sometimes in the 50% CTR range...so I'm hoping I can get some action on my "mini-store".
hey christian, nice work man. but how did u set up affiliate shop of products. were u only showcasing products and once a customer clicked you would take them to a shopping portal? is that how you were doing it?
Basically if you check out the first link in my signature, I had a single text link for a Chrysler product on that page. The text link went directly to the product publisher website. I've since built a mini store on my site which shows the product image and descriptions and if clicked, go to the product publishers website for purchase.
Dont you need permission to link to a website? especially the likes of Chrysler? even to set up a store?
Not that anyone has ever told me. The website isn't selling a Chrysler made product...it's selling a product that fits on a Chrysler vehicle. I don't think I need permission from Chrysler to do that...I hope.
