Ok, so I'm more of a digital/info-marketer, but lately I've decided to promote more Amazon products...

After weeks of promotion and website building, I finally made a sale in the Halloween niche.

So, after all the work, I only got over a buck???

For all those who makes like $200 to $500 a month, do you guys promote big expensive items? Expensive electronics (laptops, cameras, TVs, etc)???

as you get more sales per month your commission rate goes up to 7% (110+ items shipped/month)

PS: rate fore electronics is flat at 4% regardless number of items shipped per month

I'm the most noob of them all. I started Amazon.com Associates on the 7th of October - 14th of October and got 74 sales. My % increased from 4% to 6.5% and will increase to 7% with 40 more sales.

All my stuff was random orders, like 5-6 costumes, 5-6 books, a few dvd's, a couple of electronics.

See my earning as a noob:

On October 15th I changed from Amazon.com to Amazon.co.uk because i want bank instead of cheque but my account wasn't setup properly and lost two day. Now i'm back with Amazon.com and will post my earning/sales tomorrow.

I'm guessing i will have a lot of costumes sold in the next few days :)
After the Halloween season i'm going to go for high end products, then back to the christmas season,etc..

It increases to 6% and then more, but yes, selling cheap products without 1000 people on your site daily with around 4% conversion isn't good. I sell products from 5$ to 5000$, average product price that gets bought is 700$ and yes it's Electronics.

Wait a few more days to see how it goes, Amazon can be hard for cheap stuff :/

I try to promote electronics that are over $100. But try to sell whatever to increase the commision rate.

Direct sale some goods or choose some goods on your page, which has the better commission rate?

It sounds like your promoting via PPC... be careful that you understand the rules, as Amazon will find out if your breaking them. Mainly you cannot send traffic direct to Amazon from PPC.

To answer the original questions.. I like to mix cheap and expensive products. More likely to sell cheap products and they up your comission rate. Then the expensive sales really push your earnings up.

Use SEO to promotoe Amazon products....don't use PPC....you will get less profit....Amazon not clickbank....they pay the comission very low.....

To the OP, you can make some money if you put in the time and effort. For example, the screenshot below shows how much I made last month despite not promoting at all because I was moving home.

All the earnings for last month came from the promotions I made previously. It may look gloomy initially, but with time your efforts will keep paying off for a very long time. Now that's one of the benefits of affiliate marketing.

    Good luck
