Made my ad, what happens now?

    Hi,
I'm new to all this and clearly need some help!
I've made a little ad using Google Adwords which is currently active.
It's an ad for an item on Amazon, and as far as I understood, you can make google ads that point to item on amazon, which is what I've done but I'm not sure what else I have to do for amazon to recognise that it's my ad that brought people to them!?
Do I have to be an Amazon associate for this to work?

I know you can be an amazon associate and direct buyers to amazon through links on your own website, but how does this work from a simple google ad?

Somewhere there is a missing link...and it's not just between my ears!

    Can anyone please help me?

    Thanks for any advice.

They won't, at present you're just paying to advertise Amazon.

It doesn't, as I said in my reply to your last post. If you want to display ads for Amazon products on your site then you do it via their Associate program and that has nothing to do with Google. You log into your Associate account, select the product(s) you want to advertise, select ad formats and so on and Amazon generate code for you to put on your site. At no point is Google involved.

If you're running an Adwords campaign pointing to Amazon then all you're doing is spending money advertising Amazon, and you'll get no commission. I suggest you stop the campaign immediately.

Put very simply, if you advertise on Google's search engine, you pay every time somebody clicks on that advert. The idea is that you get people onto YOUR site, and make the money back by selling things to them.

You're confusing Adwords with Adsense. Adsense allows you to make money by hosting Google adverts on YOUR site. If somebody who visits your site clicks on an Adsense advert, you get a little bit of money.

Either way, YOU NEED A WEBSITE. If you have no website, neither are of any use to you.

I think I Believe I know what you are trying to do

You would like to skip all this website nonsense... and use google adwords to drive traffic directly to amazon, and make commission on the sale.

If life was that easy, this forum would be littered with people trading information of their personal jets.

Thank you Jon, that's answered a few questions. Sorry you had to send two emails for me to realise what you had already told me.

I've cancelled my google ad. But, can you tell me who actually are creating the google ads linking to amazon? Do amazon do this themselves?

    Thanks alot for your help.

Well, apparently there are people who create Google ads and point to Amazon (other thread). It seems lunacy to me when Amazon offer their own system that's free. And yes, of course, some of them may well be Amazon's own ads.

Amazon now allows you to build your own store on your site and the potential for this is really quite good.
