I mean, when you create a forum -- not joining one?

It's hard work man, you'd be better off doing something else. I run a big-board but just as a hobby. 10,000 impressions per day equates to under a dollar a day for me sometimes (goog ads displaying twice on every page).

    Yes.
But you need to chose a hot niche such as make money online.
Spent some money in forum poster then i'm sure you can earn via ads.

You could always sign up to the uploaders that will pay you depending on how many people have downloaded your files. That way if you put (legal) downloads on your forum for people, it will not only make your users happy, but it will also make you some money!

You've run ad on them? Given that detail on your forum, I bet you know what you're doing. But could this actually mean that in terms of making money, a webpage is better than forum?

Even if, say, I'm running a forum on English tutorial for asians, and I've added some ads re English books, audio, and even related videos?

I though it would be so much easier as forums are more interactive :D

You can make money after a few months or even a year.
The forum below makes $40 per day sometimes, never less than about $20. Only one 728 x 90 Adsense ad on "showthread.php" page.

    Threads: 29,726, Posts: 129,310, Members: 11,901

    Whats your topic??...nothing special.

Why not try value click media, you should earn more that that for 10k impressions. Probably around $10 a day depending on the niche, you could also try tribal fusion for even more money.

Its very hard making money from forums. Specially from PPC ads; people just don't click ads pretty much.

I have a growing one and half year old webmaster forum with Threads: 9,429, Posts: 77,338, Members: 3,019, Active Members: 1,027. Guess how much I earn; less then $10 per month:) Some months are good though I must say.

I think it's hard to make money by forum.
However, if a forum can make your own virtual money (like itrade here) popular.
It might be easy to earn some money from some CPA plan(like online poll).

You can make money by charging members to access a private area on forum.. if you have very sought after info like tickets, links to exclusive downloads etc you can charge members to access that info. If you charge even £20 a year it could all add up.

Others website owners may want you to send a message to your member base or display an ad to them and be willing to pay you some ££s

Only two ways to make enough money from a forum:

    1. Direct advertisers.
    2. Subscriptions.

The model I'm using is basic membership is free, then a subscription premium membership offering products/services of high percieved value.
The free part builds up the forum and gives it a good ranking and traffic from Google.
If all depends on your niche and how much value you are giving.

Making money solely from ads will be hard if that's what you're targeting. The forum should be contributing to your product or part of it.
