I have made some changes on my main page (new keywords and content changes reflecting new keywords) so I am now wondering how long it will take for Yahoo to take notice of my changes (SERPs). My main index page get crawled about 9 times a month.
Yahoo slurp visits my index page several times a day. I think compared to G, yahoo & MSN update their index faster. One of my sites was in Yahoo SERP within 3 to 4 days.
You should start seeing changes in yahoo results almost as soon as the site is re-indexed, however, if yahoo did not index all the internal pages, you may still see results of pages containing content before the changes were made. At least that has been my experience.
If that link in your signature is going to the site your talking about then you could see changes in rankings in about 3 days.
Thanks for the feedback. Gazelle, yes it is that site, why do you think the changes will be that quick? I would be happy if it was positive movement as yahoo now account for most of my crawler traffic, with msn in 2nd and google a distant 3rd.
Ok, quite impressed that you found an error, did you use the W3C 4.01 redirect on my page? Anyway thanks for taking the time and checking (whatever you did)
You say you "have made some changes on my main page (new keywords and content changes reflecting new keywords) ", but did you optimize your site by doing direct comparisons with other websites who are getting top 10 rankings on the same keywords as your site? Unless your site is optimized for Google and MSN, do not expect to get an increase in traffic. I am trying out the IBP-9 Search Engine Optimizer. They offer a free trial version, but to really optimize your site, you have to buy the full version.
I am using webseo to optimize my page, it seemed to do a decent job. In the past it has helped my get a good ranking for a less competitive keyword, so I am hoping to carry the sucsess over to the new keywords.
I would think that you should see changes within a matter of days. Just this week my site was fully reindexed by Yahoo, given more than ten #1 keyword rankings and my backlinks were increased to almost 200,000. What a week.
I have been reindex by yahoo on the 29th and 1 of my keyword have improved by 3 (Maybe just coincidence at this stage). I would certainly like to know how Jack got to increase backlinks by that much (I would be happy with a 1000 increase)
I made a mistake on my last post, it got worse by 3 positions, however today it improved by 13 (18th). The improvement is on my least competitive keyword from a daily world searches point of view, however the KEI is one of the lowest. I am hoping the improvement is due to my page changes or maybe its the 20% improvement in link?
Yahoo's new slurp seems to be more active and the wait period to see changes is now just a few days compared to a few months like it used to be. Just make sure you have some good inbound links and it shouldn't take long to see your changes.
Search engines do like fresh content, you can optimize your title and metas any time you feel like you need to, but don't over optimize it, try to focus more on off-page factors, that needs more work than your on-page factors
Yahoo has a stronger interest in your content & meta tags than G & M your text links within the site are also taken in to account even if their is no content for the phrase add that phrase to your meta description and in the content & you will be on page one for decent key phrases
