Made Blogs before Changing Permalinks... Too late to change?

Ok,

I've had blogs in the past but I'd edit them after I posted and technorati just started ignoring me. Don't blame it though lol.

Now: I have a blog and i have posted to it a few times however I never changed the structure so it's like dir.com/blog/1/cat/p=7? or something.

Basically if I switch it now to /blog/category_name/this_is_your_blog_post.htm

Willl it be ok? Or will technorati come looking for the old one, not find it, get 404 and write my blog off as useles. I've already made a few posts and don't want to loose it.

Basically does it really matter? How much better would seo friendly urls be? If I did change the structure is it possible for technorati to stop coming due to 404 from previous?

I'm using categories instead of tags. I had issues w/ simple tags last time. You ever tried them?

 

Wordpress should treat categories the same as tags, so you'll be fine.
