i came to this site from your signature.... i was curious. now, as i am here, i see $40 per hour... don't you think this is enormous? if you go to rent-a-coder, or sites loke that, you will see that guys with a lot of good references, tens of completed jobs, ask for $10-15-20 pe hour... and you want $40

sorry for being offtopic... but making that $40 smaller, might get you some jobs...

Hmmm is $40 dollars an hour too much?

Well I did some work for an ecommerce store, they were turning over £4,000 per month. I worked with them on the web marketing SEO etc, and within 6 months, they were turning over £10,000 a WEEK. that is a 10 fold increase in turnover and the profit was even higher than 10 times.

You buy nails and timber and concrete on price you do NOT buy skills that way. Don't get me wrong, I have used elancer style sites for simple scripts and the like, but some things are just not safe to do that way.

I once paid a coder to create a script for me, we agreed the price, we agreed that the script was mine to own, as I made this absolutely clear to him, I owned the copyright to the code, I even paid him extra to clarify this.

A month or two later, I see MY script being touted around forums.

You get what you pay for I guess. ;)

My day job earns $40 per hour doing the above services and I do freelance work as well. I won't work in my 'spare' time for less than I earn during the day.

Also I firmly believe my services are worth it and have clients already paying for them quite happily.

Obviously $40 is a lot of money in some countries but in the UK its not a huge amount.

For the services, i suppose it is a decent price, all depends on how quick of a worker you are ;)

Terry, you just nailed it ;)

I can look at a website, and pretty much within a few minutes see the major things that can improve performance re: selling seo etc. Then I lift the lid and dive in to see what else is wrong.

It is like the time your car will not start so the mechanic comes out and he hits your starter motor with a hammer, and the car starts. He then asks you for £40. "£40 to hit my car with a hammer" you say. " no" he replies, "£40 for knowing what was wrong, and how hard to hit it without doing and damage" ;)
