So if you have a copy of ONE of their old versions, they'll give you a cheap upgrade to the new Suite in its entirety?

And Mr Gazelle, don't you ever yearn for more ;)

I just had to check that myself and, yeah, starmonkey, you're right... seems Macromedia aren't as tight on upgrades as they used to be... or was that Adobe? LOL

I checked the UK too and was very pleasantly surprised to see that they have an even simpler upgrade statement...
Not the use of the word any and regardless of version number !!! Tres cool  That's just saved GBP400.00 :D

But yeah, always worth double-checking ;)

NWs dude :) I think I talked myself into it too LOL

You'll definately need a valid serial number to upgrade though, so make sure the one you get off ebay hasn't been upgraded already.

GBP299 (+VAT) is a good price for a DW/FW4 Studio to Studio 8 upgrade, but I wonder if I could upgrade a UK4 to a US8 when I'm there next...? *rubs chin* (US upgrade is USD 399 which is about GBP220 today. That's still like 80 quid cheaper!)

OK, I just had a chat with a nice lady at Macromedia UK and she said I *should* be able to get the US version to a shipping/billing address over there *rubs hands* OK, here (there) we go... BTW they told me the official launch date is September 12 give or take a few days ;)

Excellent not long to go! :D

What about import tax or anything? Are there any charges for getting it imported from the US?
    Good research!

I'm not sure you can have it shipped over here - I had similar issues with Oakley over a pair of shades - the US vendor couldn't sell me a pair of shades at 20 quid cheaper because of a "trade agreement" - Actually I didn't agree so there was no trade... but I'm digressing a bit here...

The nice lady at Macromedia said it would be OK to upgrade if it was to a US shipping and billing address. So by that I reckon shipping to a US friend with your UK card is still outta the question...

Still... there's only 17 days to go... Studio 8 had better be good... though I need to try before I buy.... :D

    lol fair points!

I guess you could take the long route by transferring the money to a friend/relative in the US via PayPal or something, then they can buy it and have it delivered to their address and they can then ship it out to you but that seems awfully longwinded.

Couple of weeks and we'll be able to start playing with it guys!

Of the features they've decided to put in DW8 this has gotta be the handiest - you can ftp your site and *still* carry on designing/coding in DW... actually, come to think of it, that sucks - I used to enjoy those hour-long tea breaks LOL

You have been able to FTP to your hosting for a while now, through the site manager, or are you speaking of something different?

Normally when you FTP in DW you can't use it for anything else, so especially if there's a ton of files to transfer you (used to) have to walk away and leave it. DW8 means no excuses to not work  LOL
