That's interesting because I have always bee a Mac man, but found scratching at the surface a lot of web software was more PC orientated. So I went out and bought a PC - so I'll see how good this is for the job. To any one out there I would recommend a Mac. So you say they are more expensive but you get what you pay for QUALITY. But it does depend on what you want to use it for. Publishing, design etc use a Mac. See what the professionals use in this area a Mac. However the internet is dominated by PC software and users so there you have it in a nutshell. Ask your self this question - Why is it always the PC that have viruses, why are there always problems with the data storage in the registry? Macs are much more thought through in depth all testing is done before they are released to the public. However they have to be top notch if the professionals are going to use them day in day out - hey that's my opinion!
Don't sit on the fence now come out and tell us what you really think. Trouble is you are looking at this as a service techician. I have been using Mac for 10 years now and can report no problems where as I have friends who are constantly being hampered and let down by their PC's. I would like to hear the views of a Dell service technician! To even up your view!
It's amazing how many people have an opinion that Mac suck but have never use one! That sort of sums up this argument, it's just down to limited knowledge......oh well!
Looking at results from Mac versus Windows vulnerability stats for 2007 doesn't inspire much confidence in Macs. You are thinking pre-Mac OSX I assume when I agree, Macs were running circles around PCs. Nowadays, I am not so sure about that.
I have both and have worked on both for decades. I have a PC because I work for a PC manufacturer and run XP. I find the PC useful because it is a notebook and that was given to me so OK for work and running around, kind of like a work mate, it is fine but annoying many times. BUT, I love my Mac for the creative side of my brain and everything seems and feels a lot more graceful and programs are muy intuitive so it is like a best playmate for a creative mind. I look forward to working and playing on Mac. I usually am counting down until my PC does something VERY stupid but I have friends like that as well and tolerate to a point.
