One thing PC users can do that Mac users can't:

I'm very open minding about what I use and I absolutely detest fan boys of either operating system. For my movie, music and comic production I tend to use a Mac computer, I don't have one so I utilise the ones I can access in my area simply by asking if I can use them, works surprisingly well. I'd get one if I had enough money so I wouldn't have to do that. I use a Windows PC to word process, game and browse the web. I really like both of them, although I'm yet to try upgrades to Vista or Leopard.

    Seasons Greetings,
    Dave

Ive only ever owned pc's, im open to buying a Mac in the future though, i used to produce music on my computer and im aware that Macs are often seen as a more serious tool for that.

joecool6101, That isn't really true about virus going undetected if you don't have one...

It's obvious that Mac is NOT virus free, but infact that it does have less viruses than the PC.

The commercial doesn't say that it is virus free, it just means that it doesn't have as many viruses by far.

Anyways, I have a mac book pro, and I have a PC.

Which is funny that until they went intel their internal sound was stuck in the dark ages, and they've alienated every major quality sound card/hardware producer, reducing them to relying on external USB boxes to do anything serious.

Because that EMU1212 is going to work SO well with OSX - NOT. How the hell it can be used for professional audio when you can't even get the pro end hardware to run is still beyond me.

Of course, the whole thing is excasterbated by the absurd latency issues the microkernel adds to all of the hardware.

Your right, i guess its a bit bizarre how over the years a Mac is often promoted as a more serious bit of kit for music production.

I want to go back to music making again in the future, currently i have a shortage of free time, to fit it in but its something i miss.

I think maybe my consideration for a Mac in the future is not such a good idea. ;)

Also the software seemed limited for audio in the past compared to what was regularly released for pc.

Ikea-like cultism, that's what. Good comparison - it's the same crap particle board you'd get at walmart, at double the price just because they used birch veneer instead of formica.

For those of you not aware what I mean, ""IKEA is a fully immersive, 3D environmental adventure that allows you to role-play the character of someone who gives a s**t about home furnishings. In traversing IKEA, you will experience a meticulously detailed alternate reality filled with garish colors, clear-lacquered birch veneer, and a host of NON-PLAYER CHARACTERS (NPCs) with the glazed looks of the recently anesthetized." (thanks to brettW over on parallels support forums for that one)

Though I often more think of them being like Saab owners. Cultish, will put up with little annoyances, quirks and at times outright counterintuitive controls because they either have never tried anything else, or just because it's not from the great evil empire when their company of choice has business practices that put the 'great evil' to shame.
