This morning I was notified by the all popular Cow about a new service which will provide you RSS readers! If your RSS reader subscription is low, just pay for fake readers. This is a new service which you pay for RSS readers/subscribers, hmm does this remind you of BuyBlogComments? http://www.ianfernando.com/2007/low-rss-just-pay-for-fake-rss-readers/ Would you ever pay for RSS subscribers which will never provide any value to your blog?
It's ridiculously overpriced, but I suppose the only benefit you'd get from fake readers would be the influence that a FeedBurner counter with a high number of "readers" would encourage first-time visitors to subscribe.
Heh, they'd be better off paying the money for some decent prizes and having a contest ===> + subscribers, pwns RSS Xplosion
I think it will devalue the worth of feed counts. because now we will not know if they are real or not, so when we go to purchase a blog the feed count will make little difference to us...
A total waste of money, and will never let bloggers improve their skills but just cheat. P.S. Ian, you got a cool new layout (it was awhile since I had not visited your blog).
> emirates yup waste of money for sure! > pony exactly fool all the other readers, thinking your blog is popular > thomas it will definitely devalue the value of a rss blog count and the blog itself > trapped definitely a waste of money, thanks!
Waste of money... The reason RSS should be promoted on blogs is because returning visitors are worth much more than one time visitors who click on an advertisement. If you have RSS subscribers, but not actual readers, this is just a useless number.
awww, we were just gonna put a topic about this in here... Seems it's more lying than marketing like Scot claims hes doing in the comments at http://www.johncow.com/this-months-stupid-cow-award/
Sure the service is suspect, but I'll bet there will be people willing to pay for it. Remember, there is a sucker born every minute...
Can someone explain to me the purpose of subscribing fake RSS readers? And is this phenomenum just relating to blogs? I don't understand the benefit of having fake readers, I also don't understand how anyone can tell (even myslef) how may readers I have, it's an XML file on the website and unless I bother to analyse the server logs for hits to the file, how can I tell? And how does this increase blog value?, why would you buy a blog? Blogs are meant to be people online diaries or pesonal oppinions, rants etc.. aren't they? Why would you buy someone elses rather than start writing your own? Can someone please fill in the missing blank I seem to have understanding this. Thanks, 1DMF.
