Lots of people are experiencing pretty bad results in September ... There is a large thread full of concerned webmasters at WebmasterWorld: http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum89/9078.htm Lots of reasons - but my traffic is way down, and I don't have a single page in Google. So, I think this down-turn is related to world events, not just new Google mechanisms ...
I was sent an email saying the incredible drop in adsense click values is because the majority of adwords users are rapidly moving to yahoo and overtures adwords etc. I guess this would explain it, the drop in those willing to pay good rates for adwords has to make adsense ads worth a lot less also.
Yeah..you guys forget about Holidays. Labour day, the whole hurricane incident. Plus BIG one!! School's starting. kids are either moving to universities, parents are rushed to get their kids started, etc. and there's going to be competition between yahoo, etc. which will probably cause Google to give us a bigger cut of the profits. cost of adwords will probably stay if not drop a tiny bit...but the benefits are going to go to the publishers.
that fluctuates with time. one week it's high the next it's low. depends on who's bidding. it's only been 6 days. and mine are up (*knock on wood*)
I was sent an e-mail that some guy in Kenya has 20 million dollars trapped and he needs help getting it out. I think it is a bit unreasonable for ANYONE to claim something like the MAJORITY of adword users are fleeing Google to go to Yahoo and Oveture. Even with the changes to adwords, I think any adwords advertiser would need to tread cautiously going to yahoo.. Regardless, claiming the majority (ie more than 50%) is just way beyond exxageration.
I am showing exactly the same, in fact my traffic, ctr and clicks are way up, but earnings per click have plummeted, many 1 cent clicks now........
I had a CTR and eCPM drop mid August. Many .01 clicks. Yuk! But thankfully it has improved greatly in the past week and a half. I am looking forward to what the rest of Sept. brings.
My earning are signifcantly down this month... I'll probbably do only about 60% of what I did last month if this keeps up...
I am loosing significant revenue... everything is down, views, CTR, eCPM... it's all down.... and it started a little over a week before September go here. I am seeing 45% less per day in earnings on average than this time last month. I changed nothing on my site.
Nobody mentioned the new Adwords quality thing? Just say a user was willing to pay $1/click before, but Google forces them to pay $3+ in order for the keyword to be active. The user could just pay the minimum rate, or just decide to stop paying for that keyword all together... That might have a small effect on it, but this wouldn't explain why people are getting lower $/click. I think it's just overall time of the year. People settling down from vacation, recouperating, going back to school/work etc. I follow the stock market closely and volume is still down from the summer.
I think MSN might have done something a few days ago as one of my sites has seen its traffic multiply three-fold from MSN search traffic. Ironically, it's about travel.
Hi everyone ... Ok, I am now starting to get back to late-August levels of traffic and clicks. The last week has been horrible, straight on the back of a good August. So, I would say these changes relate to lots of different things. Beginning of the month usually results in lots of SE activity, backlink changes, ranking changes etc. School holidays, huricanes, etc. But, I really dont think that webmasters moving to Yahoo will change overall profitability. Hang in there, and instead of checking your stats every 5 minutes, build some more content! Go go go!
Lol. That's definitely what I should do. I spend more time checking my stats and lurking these forums then adding content!
I hadn't been under $20 a day for 8 days, my total for yesterday ended up at $13. I had a little less clicks than usual, but the main cause is that CPM just plain sucks.
