The traffic will pick up only after the Christmas and new year celebrations, probably during the first week of January 2009 but how far the webmasters will be successful in bringing the lost traffic amidst tough competition and growing financial instability?
Of course traffic is low... I could even say a big "DUH!"... It's Christmas, everybody is with their family, not clicking your ads It will be ok in January (hopefully).
My best guess, some of them really went out for shopping, buying new gifts, and some trying to AFK for this holidays. .. Hope it will get back again.
I see almost no difference in the blogs traffic, but a huge decrease in the number of visitors for the sites offering services.
Some sites have dropped off revenue wise from adsense but i would expect it till the new year and then we hope it will start picking up again.
I would not worry too much about it. Visitors will be back on the web, especially when work and school starts again. This is a great time to spice up your site, make changes, add new features, etc. - Give your visitors something great when they return...
You know, last week some internet cables have broken in the mediteranian sea. And that made the internet affected in middle east and india. You know, that brought my website visitors too low and it affected in the search result. Earlier for months the website have been in second position and it is now around 5th. It is terrible.
My traffic for my Website Hosting Company website has been fine. I have had over 700+ Unique visits over the last month and the month is not yet up. I just hope that the new year brings our website more unique visitors. ~ Mike
On Christmas Day people are with their family/friends. People are off work - they are spending time doing things other than sitting at their PC ( not all the time, but more of the time ). You are always going to get a dip just before Xmas and just after it. Things pick up when people realise they are back to the 9-5 soon and get depressed about the prospect of it, so they start surfing and shopping. Also, January sales + people back at work.. = At an office desk = at their computer for a larger % of the day. It's just common sense folks - Dean
