Ok i had some campaigns running and lets assume i was bidding $0.30 per click and i have good quality score, 7/10, and i was #1 in adwords.. Then my campaign said out of budget, so i called them.. now fast foward few hours later, my account is running, but now im dead last on first page for the same campaigns. All my campaigns that i was #1 for a few hrs ago im now last.. Nothing has changed.. im bidding way over the quality score recommendation... Is this a google error?
They do test your ads in different positions to try to find the sweet spot for you. You only see a very small fraction of the actual impressions. It's too bad we couldn't see every ad position for every impression, I'm pretty sure people would be shocked at what they do.
I've noticed some weird things going on with my quality scores lately too... I wonder if that has something to do with what PPC-Coach said about Google changing ad positions???
Google is not changing ad positions. No way! Your ad position is only changed by your bid, QS, ad relevancy, and such adwords technical terms. Your campaign is out of budget so you're using prepay method, right? I strongly recommend you to use postpay option. Your campaign started to run again after a few hours and then all this happened? Actually this is not usual. There is something wrong with your account or campaign (keywords, ad text).
Are you using www.google.com/adpreview to view your advert? If not, then the results that you are seeing could be badly misleading... http://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=71301 http://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=46454
