I run Adwords campaigns for a group of small hotels and vacation rentals. We know from statistics that 90% of our customers choose to pick up the phone and call to book rather than complete transactions online. I think this is due to the nature of the business - people are more likely to try to call and negotiate since we are a smaller operation and not a big brand. Every phone tracking solution has been totally cost prohibitive - so thus we only track online booking, and the conversion numbers are very low - usually about 10-20 a month, with multiple campaigns. My question is, would you consider changing the conversion page to a less important page than a thank you page - say the checkout page - rather than the completed sale page - in order to get higher numbers. The current conversion numbers (completed sales) are just so small I can't do much meaningful analysis or adjustment of bids. Your opinions and experience are highly appreciated.
