Low CTR = Ban?

Has anyone experienced a ban because they had a low CTR? I've been reading a blog about stumbleupon bans...

This could be worrisome for those who have a CTR below 1%.

Is this something we should worry about?

(Just wondering: because I get A LOT of adsense impressions from the revenue sharing here at DP, however it lowers my CTR significantly!).

Must we maintain a good CTR (not too low, not too high) to be safe?

I don't think CTR can be a reason for getting banned, and have never experienced/heard such a thing.

Having a low CTR I mean? I guess if it's relating to having artificial traffic (which is against TOS) but then they banned stumbleupon traffic  (According to the blog) yet it isn't like autosurf sites..visitors are actually interested in the topic.

Having a low CTR wont get you banned, fake traffic will. There is probably hundreds of publishers with a very low CTR (0.01% range)

That's what I though since lots of people post here about low CTR and such.

However.. back to stumbleupon: this is artificial traffic? I just started using stumbleupon but I'm thinking twice about it now..

Yes, having a low CTR can never get you a ban. Fake traffic and CTR are 2 different things. After all, stumbleupon traffic is not non-targeted traffic.

I would assume stumbleupon is somewhat targeted traffic since people who stumble your site are interested in the topic.

Regardless, I'll stick to the safe side :) conversions with stumbleupon aren't great at all anyways.

Someone emailed Google about 2 months ago asking if traffic from StumbleUpon will get you banned or not. They replied saying that since its not "auto-surf" traffic and so on, thats its fine with them.

Hmm how can you protect yourself from stumblers ? If someone likes your website and stumble it and then the second one and so on till thousands of stumbles...you know what I mean ....

These are rumors and it would be really stupid if someone would get banned because of SU impressions ....

    Pure speculation ;)

My CTR is well above 1% - even with stumbleupon. I'd be suprised if you were banned for low CTR alone if the traffic is legitimate. A sudden spike in traffic accompanied by a sudden decrease in CTR might cause alarm bells to ring though, making them suspect you were using traffic exchanges? Just a thought.

It'll probably consist of an investigation of AdSense to see where the traffic is coming from, at most. Most G bans come from click fraud since G is very protective of their advertisors. I highly doubt Google will get worried that people are visiting your site, but not clicking.

If you mean below 1% i have been having that since the beginning, not a problem, and i have ~300k impressions daily. My site is not a blog I don't put big ads in visitor's face to make my site look ultra ulgy or money-hunger that's why.

    Clearly just rumors.

I have one site with <1% CTR for months and doing ok.

Would be silly coming from them anyway.

Stumbleupon traffic won't get you banned.
A very low CTR won't get you banned.
    Period.

That blogger is not backing up his theory with any thing, its just a private theory that I dont believe at all. There is no logic in getting banned for stumbling.
