Hey, I am selling a website privately and I sent an interested buyer the analytics report from Google. He then sent me this message: "I've had my partner check out your website and stats etc and we found something weird Your website only has 1.8% bounce rate which is impossible to have. Most good websites have ~40% bounce rate, maaaaybe 30, but 1.82 seems impossible. Could you explain this number please?" I do not know how to answer this question properly because I am not even sure what bounce rate means? any idea?
Bounce rate is the rate wherein the user enters your page and exits it, the higher the bounce rate, the shorter the time the user stays on your site, meaning the site is not appealing to the user or the user is just not interested. On the other hand, the lower the bounce rate, the more time the user stays on your site, meaning he finds the site appealing and is interested.
Bounce rate means that if any visitor stay time on your site is very less then it called bounced rate increment. If a visitor comes on your web-page and just close it suddenly so bounce rate will be increased.
If a visitor visits one page of a site for a very less time then go way this is called bounce. And the percentage(ratio) of single page visit to total visits is called bounce rate. For an average site bounce rate should be between 35 to 45 percent.High bounce rate (>50% ) is bad for a site. And very low(<20) also bad,in this case there is some error in analytics code.
Some web site masters would love to have low bounce rate. We all want to make our web pages relevant to our visitors.
1.8% indeed seems incredible... Maybe you have some kind of automatic redirection or a popup, so when a visitor arrives, he makes two hits in quick succession, so in GA it doesn't register as a bounce even if he leaves right away.
Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page. Use this metric to measure visit quality - a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages aren't relevant to your visitors. If you able to get 1.8 percent bounce rate with over 2k traffic, people will get shock of it because it like impossible to achieve.
The total number of visitors who living your website after opening and if the bounce rate is high the visitors not staying in your website, if it is low then the visitors staying in your website.
