I've been watching horror films since the age of three. I blame my mother for that because she was a big horror movie buff back in the 80's. I have seen them all but I think 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' is the most definite one IMO. Oh, and the ending scene of 'Sleepaway Camp' gave me nightmares for a week.
I found a way to watch horror movies without getting scared. Put plugs in your ears when your with friends or watch it without the sound on when your alone. Works like a charm.
So true, I loved "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" too, you are right it was a masterpiece and gave me nightmares whenever I would hear a chainsaw. I actually worked for a few years in the forestry and we did a lot of chainsaw work.
Night does seem to be a constant with me as well. I can't really imagine seeing a horror movie in broad daylight. It makes the movie feel cheap. Other than that, I noticed that I used to see a lot more horror movies when I was younger. I think I grew out of it.
I was remembering this topic so I came back. The reason why I sort of stopped paying any attention to horror movies has to do with a developement in literary taste and growing up I think. I find horror too ... predictable. It's not an egoistic plea. Even if I didn't predict a scene or so, the overall formula is very strict. It is really hard to enjoy something when it stops to impress you.
Horror movies creep me out too much... I much prefer something lighter in tone or something family-oriented!
Greetings, Could You guys suggest some of your all time favorite horror movies ? Last movie i saw that was little bit creppy, was "Clown", and still it wasn't scarry how i wanted to be... Cheers!
Psycho is an old classic. If you like the "zombie" genre, go with George A. Romero's films. Day of the Dead is one of my favorites!
I really loved to watch horror moves when I was a kid. I enjoyed being scared at that time. Now, I do not have enough time for movies, unfortunately.
I've been a huge fan of horror movies since I was way too young to be watching them. My favorite is an always will be the 1978 version of Halloween!
