In my opinion it's a highly dubious project but there are so many other successful (and probably more suspect) sites doing something similar I doubt it would attract much attention. Besides, isn't suspect and dubious what Egold is for? $40 doesn't seem like a whole lot for a custom coded script. Granted it is an easy project to complete but if you want someone to create a site which you could realistically promote (i.e. a well finished, well rounded product) $40 for me just wouldn't be worth the time.
