The Kansas lottery screwed up last weekend... http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=1425383 Same pick 3 numbers for 3 days. Local TV news says it was a software glitch, quoting the lottery office as saying it ran fine for ten years. They paid out twice what they took in on the third day, people apparently picked up on it. So, if you see the same number pop up twice in a row, would you bet on it happening a third time?
They are honoring all tickets, and refunding the losers for the second and third days. Plus a free Pick 3 this Saturday, if you spend a dollar... Sounds expensive.
Yeah, but lotteries generally make a LOT of money. I wouldn't be too worried about their future profitability.
