I have a site (the one in my sig) that receives around 3000 views per month, the problem is that all of my traffic is coming from India and the CPC from adsense is something like £0.01 per click. I can't do anything about getting organic traffic from other places as the vast majority of searches come from India. I am in the top 3 for my keyword in most countries that I have checked, so I need to work out how to make money from these visitors. I have an affiliate program for a book on there but it hasn't made any revenue so far (in 2 weeks), so I'm thinking of going another route with it. Anybody got any ideas as to how I can generate some decent revenue from this site?
I'm not sure if your site will be popular enough yet for approval, but you can try buysellads.com. You can earn revenue without worrying about the CTR or anything really besides page views.
3000 pageviews a month isn't a lot of traffic. I would focus on getting more traffic. What is your website about? And why is that you are getting a lot of traffic from India? Is your site targeted toward the indian community?
first, 3k pageviews is literally *nothing*. we have over 20 sites which get 1 mil+ pageviews/mo each. second, Indian traffic is generally low on the monetization scale. not much you can do about it because it has a simple fundamental reason - India is a relatively poor country compared to the US and people just don't spend that much money online. so they arent as valuable for advertisers. the thing that works best there for monetizing that sort of traffic is from our experience incentivized CPAs (there arent too many, but some pay out $0.20-0.50 or so for a 1-page submit). if you can compel enough people to fill that out, it can be 10+ times better than AdSense.
i concur with ablaye 3000 views per month is like 100 views per day which should really not make you much in terms of revenue
You might have a website you got 100000000000000000 but if they're not targeted you wont do one penny. Johnny
i guess it may because your traffic isn't the target customers, you should analyze your keywords with google adwords again in order to get revenue and conversion rate. what's more, you need to do some works to improve your nature keyword rank, when your keyword has good rank, the target customers will find you and trust you when they use search engine/
I think ads of your website not put on better place. therefore, clicks is low. if you put your ads in right place you can get lots of clicks, and remember that target traffic European country, it will increase your income.
3000 views is too low, even if you have CPM ads, you'll hardly be able to earn much. Good luck on getting more traffic
I don't know why everyone is saying 3,000 views a month is low. I have a site that gets around 3,000 views a month which I make $300-$400 off per month. If you're focusing on just one website for a full-time income, then you'll definitely need more traffic. But usually you should be able to turn 3,000 views a month into something. It really comes down to the type of traffic you're getting though and traffic from India is a bit more difficult.
It seems that your ad placement is not correct. You will have to play with different ad positions and sizes and will also have to continue with traffic... IMO, Traffic = Revenue. All The Best !
Cheers for the replies, I am still growing the site, it is aimed at the Indian market so these people are my target audience, also I removed my ads (except for a small bar at the top of content) because the ctr was too low. I realise that 3000 is low for any real revenue (although I do have sites that make good money from this level of traffic), however if for every 100 views each day I am getting 2 clicks, then no matter how big the site grows, it will never generate a decent revenue. I am asking so that I can come up with a plan for the future when the site is big enough to earn (the 3000 views is only from the 1 keyword I have targeted so far, I have a lot more in the pipeline for this site). All of the build your traffic advice (although appreciated) does not help me, I am doing that already. I'm looking for alternative monetisation advice, so if you have some, please contribute.
you could try Blam ads or some incentivized CPA. those have sometimes worked for us quite well on sites where CPC revenues werent so great.
What affiliate programs that you use. Most of the affiliate programs are not suited for Indian Region(Conversion ration low) You can use trational contextual programs ( Google Adsense,Adbrite ...) but it also depends on the no of factors . The placement of ads, Adformats and etc. It all takes some time. Wait for some time to experiment and you will know yourself in coming days.
I'm using just an ebook affiliate trhough clickbank. It's only ben up a few days (8 I think) so I will give it some time before I take it down, but so far it hasn't had a single purchase in around 400 page views. Placements and formats are completely irrelevant as the cpc is £0.01 so no matter how much the ctr improves I won't make decent MONEHS. I'm gonna try out this Blam ads thing and some other impressions based payment ads. I'm also going to write my own ebook and target a specific audience (How to beat Americans to Networking Jobs). Hopefully this will appeal to the people visiting my site more than some generic interview tips ebook.
Welcome to the monetization jungle. I have to agree with the majority vote here, 3000 is - for most sites - far too low to monetize. Indian traffic is difficult to monetize, but it's getting easier all the time. There are more and more sites - startups - aimed specifically at the Indian market. It's definitely not worthless. No traffic is easy to monetize, though, not even US traffic. It always takes some doing.
Indian traffic is notorious for very low Adsense clicks, you can try targetting tier 1 and 2 countries
Your irrelevant traffic could be the result of inconsistencies between your keyword strategy and your business strategy. It is important to ensure that both strategies work together to drive relevant traffic. A successfully optimized site will be able to reach and retain visitors.
